One of our requirements for Toy Boat 2 was adequate rod storage (see our post “Search for Toy Boat 2”). Unfortunately, our Edgewater 175CC did not come with any kind of horizontal rod racks. While Edgewater offered in-gunnel horizontal rock racks as a factory option, they were not long enough to hold rods over 7.5 feet.
We added 3 of these 4-up polyethylene rod holders per side. This allows us to carry 8 rods/side – 4 facing forward, 4 facing back.
Note the black plastic thumbscrew latch between the second and third rod slots. The rod racks are hinged on the other side to that they can fold flat. The thumbscrew latch holds the rod racks in place for normal use.
