Project Description
Trim tabs are one of those things that seem useless until you use them. Then you wonder how you ever got along without them.
On Toy Boat 2, we installed Lenco electric trim tabs. At the time, Lenco was a new player in the market. The big name was Bennett, which made hydraulic trim tabs.
Of course, when Lenco came out, there was a lot of noise and controversy, primarily about whether or not anything electric could be reliable in salt water. But the Lencos made a lot of sense for small boats – no hydraulic system to install and fast reaction times.
We followed their sizing guide and added the basic control switches.
