Project Description

EPIRB stands for “Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon”. At Toy Boat 2’s first launch, an EPIRB was the only truly reliable way to summon help when far offshore without a Satellite phone or Single Side-Band (SSB) radio. We chose an ACR Category II EPIRB, as described in our post “Small Boat Safety Offshore – Part VIII (Being Found)”

We chose to mount our EPIRB on the port side of the console initially.

Also note the electrical receptacle in the lower-left of the picture. This powers the on-board battery charger.
