Project Description
We used portable ice chests to add storage and cooler capacity in the cockpit. Our selection: two Igloo 36 quart Marine coolers, one in the port stern corner of the cockpit, one in the right stern corner. We used Igloo’s tie-down kit to keep them in place.
We initially had the ice chest installed with the opening facing forward, but found that they would blow open when the boat was towed at highway speeds. By reversing them so that they face the stern, the lids naturally are blown SHUT at highway speeds. We discuss this, plus some other rigging tricks, in “The Tao of Rigging – Part IV”
